Soundcloud

I have set up a soundcloud site where I am uploading select songs from my pile of creations. I will continue to upload my work along with details on my music here, but if you'd like to hear my better work early, or don't like sendspace, take a look! I will also be posting songs from my new album, "Silversound Chronicles".

The Far Reaches of Sound #3 - Sector H

Here's the third song in my album, Sector H. I'd like to point out that I have a fairly random method of naming my music. Much like how I create music, the thought process for naming involves putting down whatever first comes to mind (and maybe fiddling with it afterwards). With Queer Symphony, I thought it had a very symphonic sound to it, and since I saw it as a drastically different form of that sound, I decided to call it a 'Queer' Symphony. Cobalt was much simpler. The thought process went something like this, "Hmm, it sounds very blue to me. But I can't call it blue, that's lame. I should think of other colors that are blue besides blue. Perwinkle? No. Oh, I know! I remember there was a blue Gameboy SP, and the color was called Cobalt! That's it, I'll call it Cobalt!" Now, as for Sector H, I definitely saw a spacey theme here, so I wanted the name to be something sci-fi. Sector was a given (again, whatever pops into my head). At first, I think I had it as Sector 9. Then I realized, much to my chagrin, that 9 didn't really represent anything. Than I thought, "Oh, how about H? The next letter in the alphabet that is outside the musical scale! It's mysterious, and beyond our grasp! Perfect!" And so was born Sector H, which you can download below. And for those having trouble downloading the link due to false advertisement, scroll down a bit and you should find a link that says, "Click here to start download from sendspace" in a blue box with a big blue arrow next to it.

Song of the Day: Mochipet and Ray Barbee - Beats Ballet (Instrumental/Electronic)

Here's another genre bending piece, done by musician Ray Barbee and electronic group Mochipet. It's a unique blend, and is done quite well in my opinion. This particular video also features some interesting art, which goes well with the music. So, here's the song!

Song of the Day: Ryuichi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (Instrumental)

There are not many songs that I would call truly beautiful, but this is one of them. I originally heard this when I was going through a J-pop phase and listening to Utada Hikaru a lot. I heard her take on it, went to find the original song, and liked it infinitely better. So, without any further ado, I present to you "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Song of the Day: 4mat - 1989 (Chiptune)

Here's a cool song I found when listening to my chiptune radio on Pandora. It reminds me of old Tron techno, pretty interesting.

Far Reaches of Sound #2 - Cobalt

Well, here's the second song: Cobalt. I'm quite proud of how this song turned out, and while I'm on the topic, let me talk a bit about how I create music. I don't compose in the traditional sense of notation and whatnot. Rather, I sit down in front of Fl studio, and from there, I can input various notes and various sounds. For example, I could have a violin play a scale in C by clicking on where and when I want it to play. However, I happen to be using the Demo of FL studio, which doesn't allow me to save or open my work. This being the case, I really only spend hours at best on any one song. So if you think a song sounds like it could use more work, that's why. Now, onto the song. With Cobalt, I was trying my hand at Chill Out, a genre that features more ambient elements. In fact, I was experimenting with different genres throughout the course of this album, though I put my own twist on each one. You can download Cobalt at the link below. Enjoy!

Song of the Day: Egg - Fugue in D Minor (Classical)

As I flesh out my thoughts for the blog, I've decided to do daily songs. This reflects my personal taste in music, which in my humble opinion, is rather diverse. I'll try to do something from a different genre each day, beginning with this.

Opening Post/Queer Symphony

Well, my old Posterous blog (aside from being outdated), is closing down. So, I'm starting a new one here on blogspot, which will hopefully see more posts. As you can see, the title of the blog is "The Far Reaches of Sound", and my intention is primarily to share my music. For those who don't know, I'm a composer of sorts, and I've been making music for a few years now. I have experience playing the Viola and Piano, and have been singing for a year. However, I make my music using a computer, most often with a program called "FL Studio". I've released one full album, and have begun work on a second, the first being called "The Far Reaches of Sound" as well. So, to commemorate (and to spread out posts), I'll share the first song of my album: Queer Symphony. Enjoy!
